• I have only read the first two stories, but I am a quarter of the way thru. I'm an intermediate student of Spanish, and I bought it for practice and for Halloween entertainment.. The author was advertised as being the Spanish, Edgar Allen Poe. I haven't read any EAP recently, but I doubt if much of his writing is almost without a plot and of little interest. Much of the first story is predictable, a young man fascinated with an attractive young woman. The plot of the second story is of even less interest; classically aburiendo. The writing is said to be from the 19th century, but is understandable with a dictionary. I guess that's why I gave it two instead of one stars.
• Such an amazing book filled with the classics of Horacio Quiroga. Loved how he portrays all the emotions from every short story. This is a must have in any Hispanic literature collection.

  I bought Horacion Quiroga's book "Cuentos de amor, de locura y de muerte (Clásicos universales) (Spanish Edition)" Edition for USD 1.99 on January 15th 2012.
  It was very disappointed that, already on the first three pages, I noticed words and sometimes complete sentences missing. There was no way someone reading this book will enjoy it and even understand it.
  I don't get why you are selling a book like this. Even when It costs USD 1.99... It's not worth it and also very frustrating for someone who is expecting to read it properly. If It will have these kind of mistakes, at least offer it for free (although that's not the right thing to do, because all books must be the same as their printed editions, not matter how much they cost).
  Fortunately, I noticed that I bought the same title a couple of months ago. This had all words and was very pleasant to read.
  Please, check what you are selling. This type of things won't help for us customers to want to buy more books.

• Me encanta este libro. Las hojas son blancas y las letras están de tamaño perfecto!
• st escrito en lenguaje ameno, interesante de la pimera mitad del S XIX en ciudades a ambos lados del rio Uruguay, tanto del lado de Argentina como del Uruguay. Las historias describen una época de romanticismo casi surrealista, tétrico, fatalista no exento de una buena vsion de cómo se ascendía en la escala social en esa época. La mujer no estaba emancipada como hoy lo está, no era libre y dependía de una buena relacón amorosa o matrimonial con un hombre pudiente para vivir mejor.

• Muy recomendable. Recomiendo también los Cuentos mineros de Baldomero Lillo, escritos unos años antes que estos de Quiroga. Salvando las diferencias, las dos colecciones de cuentos tienen algunos aspectos en común.
