Forever in Your Embrace Author Preferred Edition Kathleen E Woodiwiss 9780380816446 Books Reviews

  • Kathleen Woodiwiss began writing more advanced romance books several years ago. I fell in love with THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER. I enjoyed her earlier books; however she was a good author. I've rated her books from 5* to 3*. Most of her books are delightful. Sad that she is no longer with us but her books are well worth reading. You can rate them PG rather than R or erotic.
  • Right up there with The Flame and The Flower. I couldn't put my down. Loved it. I thought my husband was going to hide my from me. I'm reading all of Katherine E Woodiwiss's books, in order she wrote them. I read The Flame and The Flower in 1972 when it first came out. I have read it four times now. I have the paperback. I'm retired and for personal reasons, my husband and I can't travel as much so my is my escapism now.
  • I love KEW writing style..her blistering descriptions of an era long since past , the beauty of love conquered, the hardships of devious deceit, the longing to seduce and be seduced ..... But this book was a little hard to swallow. I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't in the mood for a long drawn out plot or if it was the characters written. I didn't fall in love with the Hero Tyrone or Heroine Synnovea as I do for all of KEW characters. Yes Synnovea was the bewitching Russian Countess that had to endure the hatred and jealousy of her guardian and the threat of being raped by every man in Moscow, Her beauty was a blessing and a curse. And yes Tyrone was the dashing Colonel that saved the Russian beauty from such peril all the while gaining favor from the Tsar . And here is where I get lost.... Tyrone lusted after Synnovea and being aware of that fact she comes up with a scheme to be found compromised with the Colonel so her aging betrothed would not want to marry her. Um. Not liking that idea at all. After being caught she decides that she never intended to hurt anyone in her scheme at this point I am still lost in how they actually fall in love. To me Tyrone never forgave Synnovea with his heart but instead with his loins. And not fully aware of the why , I lost interest in the storyline and skimmed the rest of the book. I never fully enjoyed this book thus is why I gave this book 2 stars , the first star only because of the author the second star because I sat here and endured the boring blahs blahs and read the book even when I didn't want to.
Waste of time.. But that's only my opinion and others may enjoy the book .
  • I had just finished reading Wolf and the Dove and enjoyed it a lot. So decided to read another by Katherine Woodiwiss and was not impressed. Note have also read Shanna and enjoyed. "Forever in Your Embrace " was too detailed about fashion and physical appearances, situations were far fetched given the time of story and in general just unbelievable.
  • This is a full 300 plus page epic romance adventure -- plenty of page turning suspense and action -- and of course very sexy love scenes!! If it has her name, I've read it at least 3 times, if not more!! LOVE THIS AUTHOR.

  • Best historical/romance author ever. Some of her books I wish I hadn't read just so I could read them again for the first time. I have all of them in paperback and am now adding them to my . I read them over and over. I had to start putting them on as my paperbacks were starting to fall apart. I would compare Kathleen's writing style very close to Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind (book NOT the movie). IMO, of course!

  • I have moved into my RV full time and don't have tons of room to store books or movies. My and recently purchased IPad have saved the day. I have/had between 400 & 500 paperback books to transfer to digits. I have been reading Woodiwiss for 30 + years and was very happy to use gift cards I received for Christmas to purchase all of the Woodiwiss books on . With one or two exceptions her books are absolutely awesome, she develops characters & plot. She most certainly paved the way in the historical romance genre for the likes of Garwood, Deveraux, and Lindsey ( who are on my list to transfer to .

I would absolutely recommend this book.
