"I own a small business, about 50 employees, and really have not been doing great job with my social media. I've taken classes, read books, watched videos, but the bottom line was I needed to understanding what I was supposed to be doing and then GET IT DONE. The beauty of this little book is that it is little - easy to understand, fast to read and the goals realistic and practical. The concept is simple - feed your customers what they want, when they want it - the comparison is the pink Baskin-Robbin's ice cream spoon! Which I totally get, ha ha.

Not expensive and not intimidating Easy to understand and implement. The author puts forth a much more direct and simple way to get RESULTS, which to me means more customers. I came away from this book feeling capable of doing what I needed to do, and of using the charts and tools in the book, which is pretty much a first for me. Last, I also found that when I wasn't feeling overwhelmed with my social media task, it was fun to try to do things I hadn't done before, and darn gratifying to see some results.

  • I’m a social media dinosaur, and if that wasn’t enough I’m an introvert. Okay, I said it. If you are any of those things (or both) you’ll appreciate this review. I’ve been hiding from social media for as long as I’ve been able to. Now I can’t hide anymore.

    So I bought this book because I liked the cover, right? And, surprisingly, once I started I was hooked, and I read it all in one sitting! Why? Well, two reasons first, it’s entertaining. Quite frankly I do find this kind of topics boring. I’ve read a couple of books and I’ve almost fallen asleep after a few pages. Not with this one. This author is quite a storyteller; she includes analogies and case studies (from Michelangelo to Harry Potter!) so that kept me engaged. I loved her explanation of Facebook being like a family reunion!

    The second reason is that this book connected with me the author recounts her story and says that as a consultant paid for her knowledge she had trouble with the idea of giving it away for free (or something like that). When I read that, I thought “Wow! That’s exactly how I feel!” Then she comes up with her “Little Pink Spoon” strategy and I really got inspired and encouraged. I guess I finally got it! (I won’t spoil the book for you by writing about it.)

    This book effectively addresses the two main objections I’ve had that have kept me away from social media content marketing (the second one is that don’t have time for this!). Someone finally convinced me by telling me exactly what to do. For all those reasons, I highly recommend this book.
  • There isn't much more I can say that hasn't been said by the reviewers before me. However, I will say this…It took about eight hours over the course of four days to read cover-to-cover Lisa Ann Landry's "Content Marketing How to Get Started" and found her "how to" guide engaging and easy to read and understand. The bonus for me was the per chapter checklist at the end of the book to serve as a quick reference guide. The checklist highlights and reinforces the main points Lisa Ann Landry made in each chapter. I don't think I've ever seen this feature in any how-to guide I've read in the past and appreciate Lisa's intuitive attention to reader convenience by providing this at-a-glance checklist “cheat sheet.” Using the strategies in “Content Marketing How to Get Started” as my guide, I don't see where I can go wrong with laying down the foundation for a viable and (hopefully) successful social media content marketing campaign to help promote my home-based meeting management consulting business.

  • This book is filled with useful advice, explained clearly and cleanly. As a small business owner, I would highly recommend this book to others who need to keep up with a fast-changing social media landscape. I am well acquainted with traditional forms of networking and media, but as the author points out, entirely different skills and approaches are now needed. This is a practical compendium, that gives valuable insights to technical requirements AND the cultures of various social media. The checklists are invaluable. Author Lisa Ann Landry’s “voice” comes through her book as a trusted friend -- knowledgeable, warm and well organized. Landry encourages readers to take easy baby steps. In this way, I quickly gained confidence to soar ahead, plan in year-long increments, and (finally) generate volumes of content. This book is well worth the minimal investment it requires. Good luck!
